Sometimes we just make mistakes and the only thing left to do is learn from them. One, arguably extremely, philosophical view of mistakes is that they will always bring something positive as they all provide a learning opportunity. The catch is that they all come at a cost. Some of them are cheap, others aren’t but you can find them on sale sometimes. There are also the ones that are a bit expensive and those that definitely cost more than they should (it’s all about the brand and having a good marketing team). Finally, there are the ones that come with a high interest rate. They could have been cheap, reasonably priced, or expensive but the final price - oh boy, that final price - is at a peak higher than you could have ever imagined.
Paying for one’s mistakes can require a lot of effort, and time and, cereal-box, philosophical realization will likely not do the job. For everything else, do use your credit card.
